Dr. Brenda, MD’s Biography
Brenda Affinati, MD, FACP is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science, ECM Site Director for the UIC College of Medicine at Chicago, Clerkship and Recruitment Director of Internal Medicine at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, Physician Liaison for Best Practices Inpatient Care, Kaplan Faculty Physician and Medical Reporter for My Weight World. She was born and raised on a farm in Illinois. She and her husband, Mario, have three sons.
Prior to having children, Dr. Brenda volunteered on several international missions, including Haiti, Swaziland, and Guatemala, where she provided free health care to the poor. She was an Associate Program Director of Internal Medicine at Lutheran General Hospital and worked in a busy practice training residents and medical students. She now practices part-time as an internist in the northwest suburbs of Chicago and teaches medical students and physicians.
She has climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro and completed 3 Chicago marathons.
Dr. Brenda graduated cum laude from Boston College with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology. In 1993 she received her MD from the University of Illinois. She is a fellow of the American College of Physicians - Internal Medicine - Doctors for Adults. Her specialty is Internal Medicine.
